Nabugabo Swadaka Association (NSA) is a distinguished Muslim organization established in 2013 by a group of dedicated Muslim businesspersons working along Nabugabo street in Kampala, with a strategic focus on Da'wah (Islamic propagation) as a means of transforming communities through faith-based engagement.
At the core of its intervention model is the Ugandan Imam, who is empowered as a key vehicle for community transformation, spiritual education, and social development. The organization adopts a comprehensive approach that emphasizes peace, unity, security, capacity building, and inclusive economic development.
NSA identifies the local Imam as the most trusted and consistent touchpoint for Muslim families. By equipping Imams with knowledge, resources, and community support, the organization ensures that the Da'wah efforts are continuous, culturally grounded, and impactful at grassroots level, ultimately enhancing the welfare of deprived communities and supporting Muslim leaders particularly in remote areas.
As a non-profit entity, NSA is driven by a strong commitment to philanthropy and social well-being, ensuring that its initiatives benefit both the public at large and specific segments of society.
"Those who spend their wealth [in Allah's way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord and will have no fear, nor will they grieve." [Al-Baqarah 2:274]
"Serve Allah and ascribe no partner to Him. Do good to your parents, to near of kin, to orphans, and to the needy, and to the neighbour who is of kin and to the neighbour who is a stranger, and to the companion by your side, and to the wayfarer, and to those whom your right hands possess. Allah does not love the arrogant and the boastful." [An-Nisa 4:36]
Nabugabo Swadaka is committed to ensuring that its humanitarian and development actions are accessible to all people in need, irrespective of their religious affiliation, tribe, color, or family background.
Building mosques in remote areas to provide places of worship and community centers for Muslims in underserved regions of Uganda.
Establishing schools in various parts of the country to provide quality education to poor orphans and children from underprivileged families.
Organizing health camps to provide essential medical services and healthcare education to communities with limited access to healthcare.
Empowering Imams from hard-to-reach areas through annual one-month induction in leadership skills and Islamic doctrine and law.
Uplifting the well-being of people with disabilities by providing resources and advocating for their inclusion in society.
Providing emergency food, shelter, and essential supplies to communities affected by crises or facing extreme hardship.
Our comprehensive approach to community transformation centers on empowering Imams as catalysts for positive change in their communities.
Imams are trained in Islamic jurisprudence, community counseling, conflict resolution, mosque leadership and economic development to enhance their effectiveness as community leaders.
Imams act as liaisons to collect comprehensive data on community needs, ensuring targeted and effective interventions where they are most needed.
We support long-term initiatives that create lasting impact, ensuring Da'wah efforts continue to benefit communities for generations to come.
Our core values are deeply rooted in Islamic teachings and guide everything we do in service to communities.
In embracing the Oneness of Allah, we aim for a spiritual connection with Allah, understanding the true fulfillment and purpose of our creation as human beings. Tawhid not only unifies the Muslim Ummah (community) but also provides an all-inclusive framework for ethical conduct, social justice, and a harmonious coexistence with the broader human community.
"Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.'" (Quran 112:1-4)
We do this by providing them with the resources, skills, and opportunities to improve their lives and take control of their futures, ultimately fostering self-reliance and sustainable development. Our work includes Imam capacity building to strengthen community leadership.
Vulnerable children are easy victims to child labour, human trafficking, drug abuse, and early marriages. Without help, the future of Uganda's orphans is bleak. We endeavour to provide necessities that can help support the poor and orphaned child's physical, emotional, and social well-being.
In Uganda, approximately 12.4% of the population aged 5 and above have disabilities. PWDs face discrimination and difficulties in accessing basic needs and services. NSA gives hope to People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) through targeted support programs.
Restoring hope often involves addressing immediate needs, promoting reconciliation and peace-building, and empowering individuals through education, skills training, and economic opportunities. We provide emergency relief such as food, shelter, medical assistance, and other essential resources to those affected by crises or hardship.
We offer psychosocial support to needy communities without discrimination. Through health camps, we provide counseling, therapy, and other mental health services to help individuals cope with trauma and build resilience, while ensuring access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare for all.
Our dedicated team of professionals works tirelessly to ensure NSA fulfills its mission to serve communities.

The Association is funded by clean/Halal money from generous contributions from its members, concerned organizations, as well as compassionate individuals and other well-wishers, especially the business community in Uganda.
NSA is actively fostering understanding, compassion, and positive relationships within communities. The overarching goal is to establish a peaceful and harmonious environment that enriches both personal lives and community interactions.
Through outreach initiatives, NSA not only empowers Imams to engage in government projects aimed at socioeconomic transformation but also ensures that Zakat funds are distributed to support disadvantaged Muslim communities in Kampala.
May Allah reward those who contribute to this noble cause.
